Workstead is a design studio that focuses on building, interiors, and products. Since its founding, studio has earned acclaim for one-of-a-kind projects that are comprehensive in vision and exacting in detail. Stefanie Brechbuehler, Robert Highsmith, and Ryan Mahoney oversee Workstead’s creative practice from studios in Brooklyn and Hudson, New York.
Workstead dedicates its Hudson studio and showroom to lighting. Workstead conceives lighting for its own interiors and building projects, and it designs lighting collections for online sale to trade professionals and retail consumers. As visual statements and tactile objects, Workstead’s luminaires embody longevity in design and construction. In large-scale lighting commissions, they contribute vitally to an interior’s atmosphere and performance.
The studio’s projects include the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn, the Rivertown Lodge in Hudson, the Dewberry in Charleston, and numerous public and private residential projects. Their products can be found in shops, restaurants, hotels, and residences all over the world. Workstead uses motifs of XVIII-XIX centuries and natural materials in the development of products.
“The most important thing for us is quality. We are looking for beauty in functionality”, says brand founder Robert Highsmith.
